Ok so this seemed straightforward enough. I bought two large (3TB) platter disks and figured I'd raid them since platter disks are so fucking slow. Problem is I've never done a raid before. I am using the popular MSI X99s SLI Plus motherboard. I have set the SATA controller to raid mode, I have created a 6TB raid array in the raid bios. I boot back into windows and open Disk Management. Prompts me to initialize 2 (???) new disks of 745GB, it DOES NOT see a single 6 TB drive. I initialized as GPT. Dafuq is going on??? https://centuryclever846.weebly.com/driver-pc-cheats.html.
RAID, or a Redundant Array of Independent Disks is usually a configuration for enterprise systems. It brings together multiple hard drives using striping, mirroring or parity to create reliable data store within a network or computer. It takes a bit of work, but for a hobbyist or someone who needs reliable storage, it can deliver great results. If you want to know how to set up RAID in Windows 10, this is for you. Windows 10 has made it simple to set up RAID by building on the good work of Windows 8 and Storage Spaces. Storage Spaces is a software application built into Windows that takes care of configuring RAID drives for you. We’re going to use that here. You will need a working install of Windows 10, three unformatted hard drives of the same size and speed and this guide. Configuring RAID in Windows 10 1. Install the hard drives into your computer and let it boot into Windows 10. 2. Back up everything you cannot afford to lose from your OS drive before starting. 3. Type or paste ‘Storage Spaces’ into Search Windows. 4. Select Create a new pool and storage space. Windows will check all drives and select them in the next window. 5. Select the RAID type under Resiliency by selecting the drop down menu. Simple pools the disks, Two-way mirror and three-way mirror are similar to RAID 1 and Parity is similar to RAID 5. 6. Set the drive size under Size if necessary. It should default to the correct setting. 7. Select Create storage space. 8. Wait for the process to complete and you should then see a single disk with the correct size in Windows Explorer. 9. Type or paste ‘Manage Storage Spaces’ into the Search Windows box to keep an eye on the array. Configuring RAID in Windows 10 is now easier than ever. Just remember to keep an eye on error reporting once you have it set up in case of any issues. RAID 1 is a mirror which basically means the data is copied into both disks. RAID 5 is striped, meaning the data is spread across the drives with parity bits on each to allow the RAID to rebuild data from a lost disk. Autodesk 3ds max 2015 free. Dec 22, 2017 I would like to create a RAID 0 array using these. My problem is that I have a lot of programs and apps that I want to keep. I understand that I should back-up and restore but I am concerned that having just installed Windows 10, reinstalling the OS might be problematic as I obviously don't have an installation or OS recovery disc. Windows 10 doesn’t call RAID 0 by name, but you’ll find the option to create a RAID 0 array under a search term called 'Storage Spaces'. Type that in the Search bar next to the Start button. Windows 10 Raid 1
Jun 20, 2015 Setup the Raid 0 using microsofts build in software raid. Bios raid and MS raid are both software. The performanc e isnt different but ease of use is. MS is easier and transportable. MS raid you can move to another windows pc if need be. If you do bios raid you're going to have to move to another board with the same raid controller. May 11, 2018 If you check my comp specs, you'll see I have a pretty nice set up that should handle the 2 SSDs in Raid. Over the years I have had anywhere from 2 to 5 SSDs in RAID 0 - BUT- this is my 1st try with the M.2 drives. Since I have an array of computers to use, I can let the ASRock one sit there while I try to figure out what I did wrong.
